Who we are
MediPush is a service that helps private medical practices in South Africa send real-time WhatsApp delay notifications to their patients. We operate in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What information we collect
When you book an appointment or opt in to receive delay notifications, we collect:
- Your first name and surname
- Your WhatsApp phone number
- Your appointment date and time
- Your consent to receive WhatsApp messages, with a timestamp
We do not collect medical information, identity numbers, or payment details.
How we use your information
We use your information solely to:
- Send you a WhatsApp booking confirmation when you book an appointment
- Send you a reminder the day before your appointment
- Send you a delay notification if your doctor is running behind schedule
We do not sell your information to third parties and we do not use it for marketing.
How long we keep your data
Your personal information is automatically and permanently deleted from our systems 12 months after your last appointment. This is enforced by an automated daily process. Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered.
Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Withdraw your consent at any time by replying STOP to any WhatsApp message
WhatsApp messages
Messages are sent via the WhatsApp Business API. To stop receiving messages, reply STOP to any message we send you. You will be immediately removed from future notifications.
